Kane found a great job!

Feb 17, 2012

After selling the UPS Store in Tahoe, Kane found himself unemployed. We moved to Sacramento originally, hoping to find a job with the state, but didn’t find work there, so it was on to Phoenix.

In the depressed economy, our fears became reality. After a lot of searching and very few interviews, he found work at GoDaddy doing tech support and sales, but it wasn’t a good fit. That job was a benefit, in the end, as he now had current work experience and a much stronger resume. He found a great job at a great company, Sage Software—now doing tech support without the sales—and looks forward to going to work daily. Each day is interesting, challenging, and he’s being recognized as a strong addition to the company.

My Story

I was born in Pasadena, CA in the late 60s. I grew up in Southern CA, living primarily in Rowland Hts and Ontario, eventually moving north to the Sacramento Area, which I loved. I lived for a stint in West Germany (Dland was still divided at the time) in the mid 80s, and graduated high school in Duesseldorf, Germany, after making some very interesting and worldly friends there.

My adult life began back in Northern California again, where I worked various jobs in the auto-glass industry. By my mid-twenties, I decided that I was going nowhere, taking a couple night classes at JC, and so I made the effort to go back to college full-time at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). There I obtained a BS in Environmental Science, and found work with the California Department of Fish and Game, as a Vegetation Ecologist, doing aerial photograph interpretation. I loved this job! I spent half my time hiking to remote areas of Cali, from San Diego to Tahoe to the Bay Area, surveying plants and trapping animals, and the other half of my time was spent in an office culture, interpreting the data I collected.

On a visit to a friend in Phoenix, I met Lisa Q, the love of my life, and she moved to Sacto where we eloped—to Mendicino, on the coast of NoCal. We had a private wedding, a couple of “wedding parties” for each side of our families, and never looked back. For the rest of the story, see About Us…
